Father Uwe Michael Lang joins the Reverent Liturgy Project to discuss best practices around prayer during the liturgy, particularly in orienting oneself and the parish properly towards the Lord.
These priest-only Zoom events are a pilot program, under the leadership of Archbishop Cordileone, to bring priests who have successfully moved to reverent liturgy together with priests who would like to do so, to offer practical support and encouragement. Come prepared hare your own insights, ideas, needs with your brother priests.
(Attendance at this event is limited to PRIESTS ONLY. If you are not a priest, or a seminarian, please do not register or attend. We will have future events for deacons, and music directors and the laity)

The Reverent Liturgy Project is a bold new initiative from Archbishop Cordileone through the Benedict XVI Institute to renew the Church by supporting and connecting priests, seminarians, deacons, and music ministers in leading their parishes toward more beautiful, reverent, and transcendent liturgy.

About Father Uwe Michael Lang:
Father Uwe Michael Lang is a priest of the Oratory of St Philip Neri in London. He holds a doctorate in theology from the University of Oxford and is a Senior Lecturer in Liturgy and Church History at St Mary’s University Twickenham, London. He is an Associate Staff Member at the Maryvale Institute, Birmingham. He is the Editor of Antiphon: A Journal for Liturgical Renewal. serves on the Board of Directors of the Society for Catholic Liturgy.
From 2008 to 2012 he was a staff member of the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, and from 2008 to 2013 he was a Consultor to the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff. In the academic year 2011/2012, he taught as Professore incaricato for history of Christian worship and hagiography at the Pontifical Institute for Christian Archaeology in Rome. From 2012 to 2018 he was Lecturer in Theology at Heythrop College, University of London.
He has published widely in patristic and liturgical studies, including the books Turning Towards the Lord: Orientation in Liturgical Prayer, with a foreword by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (Ignatius Press, 2nd ed. 2009), The Voice of the Church at Prayer: Reflections on Liturgy and Language (Ignatius Press, 2012), Signs of the Holy One: Liturgy, Ritual and Expression of the Sacred (Ignatius Press, 2015), The Roman Mass: From Early Christian Origins to Tridentine Reform (Cambridge University Press, 2022), and A Short History of the Roman Mass (Ignatius Press, 2024). He is the co-editor of The Cambridge Companion to Joseph Ratzinger (Cambridge University Press in early 2024).
